Club screen
Set up the club screen on a TV
The club screen is a web page. Any TV that can open a web page can show it: no app and no login on the TV.
Tested so far: Chrome on computers, and phone browsers. The TV steps follow each maker’s own help pages, and we have not tried every model. If something looks wrong, write to kontakt@padelranks.online with the TV’s brand and year.
1. Your club’s link
On a computer, open app.padelranks.online and sign in by scanning the QR code with the PadelRanks app.
Open Club screen and press Copy under The screen. On the phone: Dashboard → your club → Club screen → Share.
Keep the link in the club: anyone who has it can open your screen. New link retires the old one. Then open the new link on every TV.
Use this link for a TV that stays up. It shows your tournaments by itself while they are played. A tournament’s own Big screen link is for one evening and goes to sleep after 16 hours.
Typing with a remote? Type padelranks.online/tv/ and then your club’s 12-character screen code. The code is the 12 characters after lobby= in your club’s link.
What the TV needs: a web browser from the last few years, internet, and the date and time set to automatic. The round clock counts down on the device’s own clock.
No app yet? PadelRanks is free for now.
2. Which device?
| You have | Use | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| A laptop or mini PC | Chrome, over HDMI | The most reliable. This is what we test on. |
| A Fire TV Stick | The Silk browser | Should work, not tested yet. A good choice for a TV without a good browser. |
| A Samsung or LG TV from 2022 or later | The TV’s own browser | Should work. |
| Google TV or Chromecast | A Chrome tab cast from a computer | Works while the computer stays on. |
| An Apple TV | AirPlay from a Mac | Works while the Mac stays on. |
| A TV from before 2022 | A Fire TV Stick or a computer | The TV’s own browser is too old for the club screen. |
Fire TV Stick
The Silk browser
Open Amazon Silk: say “Alexa, open Silk”, or find it under Apps.
Select the address bar and type your link. It is easier to type or paste it with the keyboard in the Amazon Fire TV app on your phone.
Add the page to Silk’s bookmarks, so it is one click away after a power cut.
If a bar stays at the top, look for the full-screen button in the page’s bottom-left corner.
Edges cut off? In Silk: menu → Settings → Calibrate Screen Size (not on every model).
If the screensaver comes on: Fire TV Settings → Display & Sounds → Screensaver. On newer models: Settings → Display & Sounds → Ambient Experience → Ambient Preferences → Advanced Settings → Ambient Experience Start (5 minutes by default). Set it to start as late as possible, or never.
Samsung TV
The TV’s own browser, 2022 or later
Press Home on the remote and open Internet.
Select the address bar, type your link and press Enter. Add it to the bookmarks.
If the browser’s menu has a full-screen option, use it.
Turn off Auto Power Off, or the TV switches itself off after 4 hours without a remote press: Settings → All Settings → General & Privacy → Power and Energy Saving → Auto Power Off. On older models: Settings → General → Eco Solution → Auto Power Off.
In the same menu, also turn off Auto Power Saving if your TV has it. It can switch the screen off when the remote is not used.
LG TV
The TV’s own browser, 2022 or later
Press Home on the remote and open Web Browser.
Type your link in the address bar. Save it with More → Add to Bookmarks.
Switch the browser to full screen.
Turn off Auto Power Off, or the TV switches itself off after 4 hours without a remote press: Settings → General → System → Time & Timer → Timers → Auto Power Off.
Google TV and Chromecast
A Chrome tab cast from a computer
Google TV does not come with a web browser. Cast the screen from a computer instead:
On a computer on the same Wi-Fi, open your link in Chrome.
In the Chrome menu (⋮), choose Cast, save, and share → Cast… and pick the TV.
Leave the computer on and plugged in, with the tab in front.
You can also install a browser app from the Apps tab on Google TV. We have not tested one.
Apple TV
AirPlay from a Mac
Apple TV has no web browser. Mirror a Mac instead:
On the Mac, open your link in Safari or Chrome and make it full screen (Control-Command-F).
Open Control Center → Screen Mirroring and pick the Apple TV.
Leave the Mac on and plugged in.
Edges cut off? On the Apple TV: Settings → AirPlay and Apple Home → AirPlay Display Underscan.
An iPad or iPhone can mirror for one evening, but it has to stay on the page. For a screen that stays up, plug a Fire TV Stick or a small computer into the TV.
A computer on HDMI
Chrome, over HDMI
Connect the computer to the TV with HDMI and pick that input on the TV.
Open your link in Chrome.
For full screen, press F, F11 on Windows or Control-Command-F on a Mac. You can also click the button in the bottom-left corner. A browser goes full screen only after a key press or a click, so press F once after every restart.
To make a restart bring the screen back: in Chrome, Settings → On startup → Open a specific page or set of pages, then add your link.
Keep it plugged in. While the page is in front, it keeps the display awake. If the computer still sleeps, set its display and sleep to never.
Move the mouse pointer out of the way. The pages turn by themselves.
Keep it on
- The TV: many TVs switch off after about 4 hours without a remote press. Samsung and LG call it Auto Power Off. Turn it off (see your TV above).
- The stick or computer: set its screensaver and sleep to never, or as late as it allows.
- The page: the club screen never sleeps by itself and reloads itself once a day. You do not need to refresh it.
On the screen
- The QR code in the bottom-right corner: players scan it with the phone camera to join your club, or to sign up for the next tournament. Without the app, the page it opens shows the code to type in after installing (for a tournament only when it is set to Code only). Hang the screen where players can walk up to it.
- Light or dark: pick the theme under Club screen in the portal. Every screen with your link follows within a few seconds. To keep one TV light whatever you pick, add &theme=light to the end of its link.
- Turning pages by hand: a click, or the arrow keys on a keyboard.
- Tournaments: a club night such as an americano or mexicano fills the screen while it is played. No other link is needed. How the club screen works in the portal has the rules.
- Court board: clubs linked to Padelmates get a second link that shows every court, taken or free. It takes the theme from its link, so copy it again after changing the theme. Not available in the United States.
Something wrong?
- “This address is not a club screen”: the address was typed wrong, or the link was renewed. Check it against the link under Club screen, or copy the new one.
- The page looks broken or unstyled: the browser is too old. Use a Fire TV Stick or a computer.
- The round clock or the day is wrong: set the device’s date and time to automatic.
- The stick goes to sleep anyway: use a computer on HDMI instead.
- Still stuck: write to kontakt@padelranks.online with the TV’s brand and year.
